This is the very first Corvette ever built Corvette No.1. The above picture shows the first American Super Car to rolling off the assembly line on June 30,1953. All of the first 15 1953 Corvettes were all built by hand in a customer delivery garage in Flint Michigan before the new automobile plant that was devoted to producing the Corvette began production in St. Louis. This 1988 Callaway C4 Corvette named Sledgehammer could be considered the ultimate C4 Corvette! With it’s heavily modified twin-turbo 350 Cu In. small block motor pumping out 900-plus horsepower this C4 Corvette is capable of an incredible top speed of 254.8 mph. In 2004 the Sledgehammer sold at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona for $221,400 to a private collector. Read more »
